Author Biography
Setanta Grannell AKA Clauzy.
I grew up in the poor working class estate of Brookfield, Tallaght West in the suburb of Tallaght, south west of Dublin City. I always wanted to express my creativity, originally through comics but I was useless at drawing, then film but I hadn’t the means nor the know-how. Finally came writing, not a grade A student or B, C or even D, this also brought its problems, I was horrible at spelling and my grammar was awful, but I stuck with it and through trial and error grew as a writer, hopefully.
I love dark comedy, crime, fantasy, science fiction, spaghetti westerns, horror and dystopian (post apocalyptic), I try to blend all of this into the world of Forgotten City and with the most valuable influence of all the area I grew up in Tallaght. I moved to Cobh, County Cork when I was in my mid twenties, originally to get away from whatever path I was heading down, but have always kept in touch with my Tallaght home. Since then I have married a beautiful wife and have had 2 wonderful children and I still reside in the lovely town of Cobh.
My biggest influences from literature are JRR Tolkien, Hemingway, Stephen King, Robert E Howard, Steinbeck and Richard Laymon. Films, music and comics also factor in my influences such as the comic 2000AD. 80’s & 90’s action films, 60’s & 70’s Spaghetti Westerns, Dystopian or Post Apocalyptic films & B-Movies.
My first book Showdown is now available to purchase.
